KUALA LUMPUR: Religious controversies occur in countries around the world and Malaysia should not be singled out over the “Allah” issue, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former prime minister of Malaysia.
The former prime minister said he had a bad impression on countries such as Switzerland which banned the construction of minarets on mosques and France for prohibiting women from wearing headscarves.
“These things happen to every country."
“It is up to the media to point out that we are not the only culprit as others are also very unreasonable or restrictive,” he said after witnessing a signing ceremony for lubricants supply, technical and commercial collaboration between Petronas Lubricants International Sdn Bhd and Proton Holdings Bhd here yesterday.
Dr Mahathir was asked to comment on the negative perception Malaysia was getting from abroad on the current tug-of-war between the Muslims and Christians over the usage of the word “Allah”.
On the suggestion by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz to allow non-Muslims in certain states to use the word “Allah”, Dr Mahathir said there appeared to be some conflict.
“On one hand, we hear that the Government will wait for the Court of Appeal’s decision. But on the other hand, Nazri seems to have anticipated the decision by saying so and so can use the word while others cannot,” he said.
“I don’t know what’s happening. I’m not in the Government anymore, as you know.”
On Monday, Nazri said the use of the word “Allah” was allowed for non-Muslims in the Federal Territories, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak as the head of state was not a Sultan.
However, he added that the other states in the country had Islamic affairs enactments which prohibited the use of the word by non-Muslims.

My favourite poet was Shel Silverstein because he was the author of my favourite poem.
Why I like him so much? Because he knows the feeling of someone who worries about everything and he wrote a poem about that which was very interesting. He also wrote a lot of poems. In example, Messy Room, Whatif, Bear In There, Picture Puzzle Piece, Cloony The Clown, etc. In total, he wrote 19 poems and most of them are very good.
Shel Silverstein is a truly unique and multi-faceted artist, Shel Silverstein was a renowned poet, playwright, illustrator, screenwriter, and songwriter. Best known for his immensely popular children’s books including The Giving Tree, Falling Up, and A Light in the Attic, Silverstein has delighted tens of millions of readers around the world, becoming one of the most popular and best-loved children's authors of all time.
He was born in Chicago on September 25, 1930, Sheldon Allan Silverstein grew up to attain an enormous public following, but always preferred to say little about himself. “When I was a kid,” he told Publishers Weekly in 1975, “I would much rather have been a good baseball player or a hit with the girls. But I couldn’t play ball. I couldn’t dance. So I started to draw and to write. I was lucky that I didn’t have anyone to copy, be impressed by. I had developed my own style.”

My favourite poem is "Whatif" by Shel Silverstein.
Here was the poem:
Last night, while I lay thinking here,
some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
and pranced and partied all night long
and sang their same old Whatif song:
Whatif I'm dumb in school?
Whatif they've closed the swimming pool?
Whatif I get beat up?
Whatif there's poison in my cup?
Whatif I start to cry?
Whatif I get sick and die?
Whatif I flunk that test?
Whatif green hair grows on my chest?
Whatif nobody likes me?
Whatif a bolt of lightning strikes me?
Whatif I don't grow talle?
Whatif my head starts getting smaller?
Whatif the fish won't bite?
Whatif the wind tears up my kite?
Whatif they start a war?
Whatif my parents get divorced?
Whatif the bus is late?
Whatif my teeth don't grow in straight?
Whatif I tear my pants?
Whatif I never learn to dance?
Everything seems well, and then
the nighttime Whatifs strike again!

This shows more that he was very worry about everything around him and about him. Even though what he think did not happen, he think of it again and again. This will make him worrying all the while which make life not peaceful. I think that he should not think of the whatifs anymore because it will make his life miserable. He should not think too much about those things that were nearly impossible to prevent the wastage of time.

My favourite part of the book is the ending of the book which describes that Hari's father has kicked the drinking habit which led the family into hardship for the years before. It also describes that Hari's mother has been recovered from the anaemia she suffered over the years. Hari, too, canme back from Bombay with a lot of money which he earned there. It was a happy ending because the family was originally a poor and dysfunctional family.
A city rat needs to spend a lot of time improving himself to catch up with the technology outside because the technology of a city is always improving. It also have a lot of entertainment there you will have no time spending on it since you need to improve yourself everyday.
A country rat will have more time than a city rat because we do not need to improve ourselves everyday since the technology there does not develop very fast. Therefore, we will have a lot of time spending on other things and make our life happier.
In my opinion, being a country rat is better because we can have more time to relax ourselves and a city rat have no time to do that.
